Sundance Stompede 2019
Why You Should Come ...
We're excited and proud to welcome the 27th annual convention of the International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country-Western Dance Clubs to this year's Sundance Stompede! The Stompede will generally maintain the same format, with some expanded offerings including more workshops and extracurricular activities, and an IAGLCWDC-run dance conrtest.
IAGLCWDC committee meetings will take place on Friday morning, and the IAGLCWDC delegates' meeting on Friday afternoon. The Sunday brunch, which also serves as the IAGLCWDC general membership meeting, will be an integral part of the Stompede this year.
Advance Registration Is Open $149 through May 31
Register in advance for the Sundance Stompede. One low fee will admit you to all events* through the weekend, including four nights of dancing, three days of dance workshops, and the Sundance brunch – only $149 if you register by May 31. (*There is an additional charge for premium workshops.)
Consider supporting the Stompede and its beneficiaries by making an additional donation as a host sponsor. Last year nearly one out of three paying Stompede registrants supported us in this way.
Host Hotel Golden Gateway Holiday Inn
1500 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco
We're happy to return to the Golden Gateway Holiday Inn. We've maintained the same rate as last year at $199 per night, a great deal for San Francisco in September! We love this hotel for its comfort, friendliness, and familiarity.
Hotel reservations are reserved for registrants of the Stompede. You can book your hotel room at the same time you register. All reservations must be made through the Stompede, and not directly with the hotel.
What's New This Year
The Stompede will feel very familiar to return guests, with the same four nights of dancing, three days of dance workshops, and social events as usual. New for this year:
Expanded pre-Stompede activities, including possible Wednesday night dinner and dessert opportunities, and Thursday group tours (tentative).
"Just Dance" dance contest early Friday evening in categories of line dance, two-step, waltz, and west coast swing. There will also be the opportunity for "Pat & Chris" contests and "teams" competition.
Sunday brunch doubles as the IAGLCWDC general membership meeting, and is included with your weekend registration.
Stompede 2019 Recap
We're very proud to announce that the 2019 Stompede had 428 full-weekend registrants, of which 108 were host sponsors, plus an untold number of at-the-door attendees. Together we raised $21,872 for our beneficiaries, PRC, Larkin Street Youth Services, and the Sundance Assocciation.
We have finally posted photos and videos from the weekend, with still more to come. If you have photos or videos you'd like to share, let us know!
And we still have a number of lost-and-found items. Take a look and see if something is yours! We'll donate these all to charity if unclaimed by the end of January.
The Sundance Stompede is at its heart a fundraising event, and 100% of net proceeds go to its beneficiaries. This year we are proud to support:
PRC – provides integrated legal, social, and health services for over 5,000 clients per year affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, or mental health issues.
IAGLCWDC – promotes country-western dancing, activities, and music to all persons without regard to age, sex, gender or gender identity, religion, national or cultural origin, sexual orientation, disability or HIV status.
The Sundance Association – provides country-western dancing for the LGBT+ community, with the goal of creating an inclusive and welcoming community.
